AMEX Business Cards: The Biggest Bonuses in Germany
If you are self-employed (Freiberufler), a sole trader, or run a company in Germany, the Amex Business cards deserve a serious look. They earn the same flexible Membership Rewards points as the personal cards — but carry the largest welcome bonuses on the German market.
Business cards count as separate products from the personal Gold/Platinum. You can hold a personal and a business card at the same time and qualify for both welcome bonuses. The same eligibility rules apply (SCHUFA check; you must not have held the same card in the previous 18 months; keep it 12 months to retain the bonus).
Business Platinum
Business Platinum Card
- Fee: €850/year.
- Welcome Bonus: 200,000 Membership Rewards points after €15,000 spend in the first 6 months (combined across main + supplementary cards).
- Earning Rate: 1 MR/€ (1.5 MR/€ with the Turbo Program).
- Credits: over €1,400 in annual statement credits (travel, business services, and more).
- Lounge access: Priority Pass + Amex Global Lounge Collection.
The 200,000-point bonus is exceptional — by far the highest in Germany — but the €15,000 spend requirement is steep. It only makes sense if your business genuinely runs that volume through the card within 6 months. As with the personal Platinum, Lufthansa lounge access ends September 30, 2026.
Who should consider these? Anyone with real business spend. The points are identical to the personal cards’ MR, so they flow to the same airline and hotel partners and don’t expire while you hold any MR-earning Amex card. For a household with both a business and personal eligibility, alternating personal + business bonuses is the fastest way to stockpile points.
Bonus amounts and spend requirements on business cards change relatively often. Always confirm the current Terms & Conditions on the official American Express Germany business pages before applying.
