Redeem miles and points wisely
A good redemption starts with the travel goal, not a universal point valuation. Award pricing, availability, taxes, surcharges and change rules can differ by program, itinerary and travel date.
Check before transferring
- Search for a specific bookable itinerary on your travel dates.
- Compare the required points or miles and every cash charge.
- Check the transfer ratio, transfer time and rules of the destination program.
- Compare the result with a suitable paid ticket that is actually available.
- Transfer only then; transfers to airline programs generally cannot simply be reversed.
Availability can change while you plan. Flexible points are not a booking promise, and a nominally low mileage price is not automatically better when cash charges are high.
